We exist to love, grow, share, and serve to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

New Haven United Methodist Church

  • Love

God is love. Jesus taught us that we must first love God with all of our heart, soul, and mind. We must then extend that love to one another, loving and caring for others just as we love and care for ourselves. We are known as disciples of Christ by our sincere and visible love for God and one another.

  • Grow

We are called to have a close personal relationship with God. We answer the call by participating, personally and in community with others, in spiritual disciplines such as worship, prayer, and bible study. Through spiritual disciplines, we grow in faith and love and progress along the path of discipleship.

  • Share

Through our words and actions we will share the joy that comes from living a Christ-filed life. We are compelled to share God’s good news so that everyone will know that they are loved and forgiven. We want everyone to have eternal life which comes from the sacrifice of God’s only son.

  • Serve

We will generously use the gifts that God has given us to serve others. Through risk-taking service, we will help people, both near and far, whether or not they are part of the community of faith. As God’s servants, we will transform the world one life at a time by sharing our time, talents, gifts, and service with love.

What We Believe

  • Jesus

We believe in the mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ. God became human in Jesus of Nazareth; and his life, death and resurrection demonstrate God’s redeeming love.

  • The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is God’s present activity in our midst. When we sense God’s leading, God’s challenge, or God’s support or comfort, it’s the Holy Spirit at work.

  • People

Genesis 1:27 asserts that we’ve been made in the image of the Creator. Like God we have the capacity to love and care, communicate, and create.

  • The Church

The church is the body of Christ, an extension of Christ’s life and ministry in the world today

  • The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the primary authority for our faith and practice.

  • God's Kingdom

The kingdom of God is both a present reality and future hope.

What is Communion?

Communion is one of two sacraments in the United Methodist Church (the other is baptism). A sacrament is something set apart in the church and are symbols and pledges of both the Christian’s faith and God’s love toward us. A sacrament uses an ordinary object like bread to make visible something extraordinary like God’s grace.

Jesus invites us all “to the table” for communion. You do not have to be a member of the church to receive communion. We call it an “open table.” Are kids allowed to take communion? Yes! Kids are certainly allowed and invited to take communion. Again, Jesus invites ALL to take communion.

We typically have communion on the first Sunday of every month. Everyone is welcome to take communion with us, but it is not required.

Join us on Sunday.
