Passionately tell your Jesus story

Day 17

Scripture

Luke 2:15-18

When the angels returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go right now to Bethlehem and see what’s happened. Let’s confirm what the Lord has revealed to us.” They went quickly and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby laying in the manger. When they saw this, they reported what they had been told about this child. Everyone who heard it was amazed at what the shepherds told them.

Devotional

Over the last couple of days, we have learned that an angel came to the field to tell the shepherds of Jesus’s birth.

Once the angels went back to heaven, the shepherds easily could have ignored what they were told.  Instead of believing that they were hallucinating or being afraid of what they had seen, they decided to go and find this baby.

The shepherds chose to seek out Jesus, just as we all need to do. These shepherds dropped everything to find the one who was to be their Messiah. They were so excited to seek out Jesus, it became the most important thing for them.

This is the kind of commitment and enthusiasm that we need to have when we are seeking Jesus.

Once they found Mary and Joseph and the baby, the shepherds were quick to tell everyone about this child.  They were excited and passionate about what they had learned.

This is the kind of passion that we all need to strive to have as we tell others our Jesus story.

Prayer

Lord, I thank you for sending the angels to tell the shepherds of Jesus birth. I pray that we can all find the drive to seek Jesus the way the shepherds did and then quickly go to tell others around us the truth of His birth and what you have done for us. Amen.

Challenge

Take time today to think about how you are spending time seeking Jesus. Are you seeking him with all your heart or taking your time in the fields?
