What to Do When You Are Stressed Out

Stress is a natural part of life. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by a big change in your life or stressed by the pressures of your daily tasks, anxiety is totally normal – but that doesn’t mean it’s easy.

We were not created to live a life filled with stress! Overwhelm is not our natural state, and Jesus doesn’t want that for you either.

Here is a list of seven Bible verses to read when you’re feeling stressed about life.

  • Proverbs 16:3

Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.

  • James 1:2-4

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

  • Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

  • Psalm 56:3-4

(Use this as a prayer to God)

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can the world do to me?

  • Matthew 11:28-30

(Hear Jesus reminding you of this)

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

  • Isaiah 41:10

(Hear God saying this to you)

Don’t be afraid, because I am with you; don’t be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will surely help you; I will hold you with my righteous strong hand.

  • Matthew 6:25-27

(Hear Jesus reminding you that he is there for you)

Therefore, I say to you, don’t worry about your life, what you’ll eat or what you’ll drink, or about your body, what you’ll wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds in the sky. They don’t sow seed or harvest grain or gather crops into barns. Yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth much more than they are? Who among you by worrying can add a single moment to your life?

    Prayer Makes an Impact
