Looking to volunteer? Here's how to start.

Why You Should Generously Serve Others
Volunteering has many benefits. You can get connected in the community, experience new things, learn a new skill, and even make a positive impact on the environment around you.
And if you’re committed to making a positive difference in the community where you live and work, volunteering is a great place to start!
But how do you know where to get plugged in?
Here are three questions you can ask yourself to help you know what service opportunities are a good fit for you.
What Excites You?
When you start your day, what is something that motivates you? There’s something, no matter how small, that you are passionate about or that is regularly taking up brain space. It probably came to mind while you were reading this!
Here are a few areas in our church that might excite you!
Family & Kids Programs
Youth Ministry
Fundraising
Mission Work
Music or Worship Leading
Hospitality
Gardening
Online Worship
The possibilities are endless – but knowing what inspires you is the best place to start.
What Upsets You?
There are many injustices present in our world. Poverty, homelessness, kids without regular meals, education, health care– the list goes on and on. There is something out there that bothers you and makes you uncomfortable.
By determining the areas that upset you the most, you can discover something you are passionate about. Use this passion to drive and motivate you! This can be an area you choose to serve others generously.
What is Outside Your Comfort Zone?
Maybe there is a volunteer opportunity that intrigues you, but it isn’t something you’ve tackled before. Keep an open mind! This new service possibility might be a perfect fit! If you keep yourself closed off, you might be holding yourself back from something extraordinary.
Think Beyond Your Day Job
Just because you work in one career field, you aren’t limited to serving in that field, too. You can volunteer in areas that are completely different! God may be placing an interest or need on your mind that doesn’t align with your current job.
Once you’ve answered these questions for yourself, reflect on your responses for a while. Open your mind and heart to some new service opportunities. Maybe you need to evaluate your current ones and see if they are still a good fit!
