You are always loved
Day 20
Scripture
Mathhew 2:3-6
When King Herod heard this, he was troubled, and everyone in Jerusalem was troubled with him. He gathered all the chief priests and the legal experts and asked them where the Christ was to be born. They said, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for this is what the prophet wrote:
You, Bethlehem, land of Judah,
by no means are you least among the rulers of Judah,
because from you will come one who governs,
who will shepherd my people Israel.
Devotional
The world was about to experience the greatest thing to ever occur. It was not going to happen in a huge metropolis, there would be no brass bands, no media blitz.
Only a little, quiet, sleepy, unknown farming community. The only sounds were from lowing cattle.
Then, Jesus was born.
Love had come to Earth that night. The world was at peace. A great light shown down from heaven and the newborn baby smiled. Even the shepherds in the field felt that love.
Yes, it did not take a lot of fanfare and hooplah to welcome this child that perfectly represented love. It didn’t require lots of publicity promoting this revelation.
There was no confetti, no big celebration. There was only God fulfilling His promise.
We celebrate this promise every year at Christmas. And, no matter how perfect everything is, Jesus was born anyway.
Prayer
God, we thank you for loving us unconditionally. Amen.
Challenge
May we in our quiet time reflect that at any time in any place, Jesus loves us and is walking with us always.
